At DrachenFest, we strive to create an immersive environment full of phenomenal kits, breath-taking action, and striking sets. In so many words, we want the festival to be picturesque! And, we know that folks love reminiscing on the fantastical world that they lived in for the week, so we aim to document our time together through professional photographers, videographers, journalism, etc.
However, in order to keep the world as immersive as possible, and also to respect the privacy of our attendees, we maintain certain rules around documenting the festival. We request that you refrain from taking pictures or bringing modern equipment to film if you have not explicitly been granted permission. Attendees will be given photo waivers that pertain to anything taken by our hired documenters. No players (including influencers) or refs should be recording videos or photos in in-game spaces at any time – if we see non-official cameras outside of personal spaces, we will ask you to put it away. If you do not comply, you will be asked to leave the event.
That said - how will you know if someone is an officially sanctioned documenter? All DF-US photographers and videographers will have a clearly displayed Press badge and lanyard. These folks are considered part of our official staff and should be treated with the same respect – please do not engage them in combat, and let them come and go as they please when they are on duty.
Of course, if they’re off-duty or playing, then by all means treat them as a normal character! But when the badge is on, these are professionals who have been hired by our team to help record the wonderful world that we are creating together.
