The Silver Dragon rises, triumphant! And with this victory, a small isle has risen from the ocean. The followers of the Silver dragon now have a tiny village where they can live between DrachenFests.
hot but cool
This was a rough year - historic high temperatures threatened every aspect of the game. We made difficult (and sometimes unpopular) decisions to keep us as safe as we could. We are proud of how everybody faced the heat - for the most part, we took care of ourselves, looked out for each other, and kept our attitudes cool even when the temperature was scorching.
We also welcomed a lot of newcomers backstage, and had some fresh faces in big roles. Our team is growing bigger and closer, becoming a set of incredible larp facilitators. Running a game with this crew is a real joy. Huge thanks to our brave new referees and staff members!
In 2024, we made major updates to Archery, Camp Leadership, Crafting, Guild Skills, Safety, and Siege Warfare. We upgraded our referee training and expanded our operations team. This year's survey will help us gauge how well our updates worked, and what other changes we'll need for 2025.
Photos
Our wonderful photographers took thousands of photos at the event. After we've curated and edited them, we'll release them in batches throughout the coming year. One batch has dropped already, more will be released later this year, early next year, and during the lead-up to the 2025 event.
Player Survey & Revision Cycle
We need your feedback about the 2024 event. If you were there, check your e-mail - you'll find a link to this year's player feedback survey.
The survey will be open for two weeks only, from August 9th until August 23rd. After that, we'll need some time to crunch and analyze the data.
A few rules domains affect big player-build projects - like the Large Monster, War Machine, and Camp Construction (Wall & Gate) rules. These will be "fast tracked" with a goal of an release early in 2025.
The updated Rulebook / Warbook will be released next Spring.
See you in June!
We'd like to thank the DrachenFest community, Cooper’s Lake campground, and our wonderful staff. This was an unforgettable week for over 900 people.
We are unbelievably proud of our burgeoning "Play Community". We love watching this group discover and share the DrachenFest Vibe--that the event is really about Playing Well together. That our feeling of trust and community is more important than any game element. That when we approach each other with respect and generosity, aiming to help each other enjoy this shared experience, it creates an atmosphere unlike any other. We can't wait to breathe that air with all of you in 2025. See you there!
