Hello everyone! I'm Josh and my character name is Grimsong Fellhearth, and I've been LARPing for close to 20 years. When i first started LARPing, I didnt even know it was called LARP. It was just me and my brother making swords out of PVC pipe, camp mats, and duct tape, and beating the snot out of each other. 😜
I've come quite a ways since then. I've run several LARP groups, and I've created probably a half dozen LARP rulesets for various genres, but my greatest weakness is finding people to play them... In the meantime, I play DND when I can, work at a convenience store, and just constantly work on "perfecting" my kit. I'm always looking for new ways to make a new prop, or add a cool new facet to my latest LARP ruleset(the latest foray has been ALCHEMY and what a bear that has proven to be...).
More about my character though: He is a paladin of sorts with a very strong moral compass, but not in the way you'd imagine. If the Scales of Justice have two pans to weigh items, he is the beam in the middle, trying to keep the balance. He values neutrality, and eye-for-an-eye tactics. Not that he wont defend himself accordingly, but he just has a general distaste for imbalance. A thief robbing a beggar. Kicking someone when they are down. A King sitting in the lap of luxury while his people starve just outside his door. These kinds of things keep him up at night.
That said, he also has a pretty big interest in the world of magic, and wishes to be part of something *more,* whatever that may be.
He's from a small colony called Fellhearth, where he got into the Paladin life to find powerful artifacts. Unfortunately, the leadership of the Paladins decided his talents would be better suited for graveyard cleanup, which is mostly just killing zombies and ghouls for hours, then moving onto the next patch of unhallowed ground. It quickly grew tedious, and he requested a transfer of duties, citing his massive zombie kill count as a bargaining chip. He was granted the reprieve, as long as he traveled to the Drachenfest first.
As it stands, I'm kinda stuck deciding what kind of classes I want to pick. Definitely Defender for the shield use, but its a toss-up between going full-tank and picking Champion, or dabbling a bit in the magical arts as a Spellcaster.
I think the Silver Camp would be perfect for the character, as he has always worn his honor on his sleeve, but if you think he might do better elsewhere, let me know. Also, ask me anything about his backstory you might be curious about, and it'll help me flesh out the character's minor details more. (plus, I love making stories) :)
I'm a total paladin player too. Looking forward to fighting alongside you as Sir Tristram.
Welcome! I have such a soft spot for paladins! Love the concept.
Looking forward to meeting you at the battlefield!
Spellcaster could be a great fit! I've heard you can learn to make scrolls at the magic guild, and a clever paladin might cast from the scrolls they make... despite wearing armor! ;)
Hi Grimsong, welcome aboard! Yeah, silver camp sounds like a great fit. I love paladin characters. My character at DrachenFest-EU is a paladin in the gold camp, which prizes balance and justice rather than "goodness". Can be a lot of fun, especially in a game where there's so much to roleplay around morality.
